Chocolate Milk | Hot Chocolate Using Cocoa Powder | Choco Milk Using Cocoa Powder | Hot Cocoa | Chocolate Mexicano Drink

Just the word chocolate milk, is enough to freshen me up. I am an ardent fan of anything chocolatey, specially cakes, but when yearning for an instant chocolate treat I go for one drink! "Hot chocolate". I love hot chocolate and this is one drink that I whip up when I crave for something quick, silky and chocolatey. Every sip just lifts up the mood and spirit and makes the next minute sweetest, here, any chocolate lover will agree with me. Did you know that chocolates are good stress busters? I've felt it many a time. Chocolates when consumed is said to release endorphins, a hormone that makes your body feel good and induce a better mood instantly. Doesn't that sound good? Vary the drink according to your mood and desire, just chill it to get a rich chocolate milk or chocolate drink, else have it warm to enjoy hot chocolate; I find hot chocolate even more soothing than the chilled version. You might have come across those packaged chocolate drinks in stores these days, most of them are watery and do not even taste rich enough and you'll often feel like you've gulped in some powder mixed drink. Try the following recipe and I promise you'll not be disappointed, you will get a smoother, super rich, thick, chocolatey and yummmmm drink for sure unlike the store-bought ones!! This lip-smacking drink will perfectly fit your evenings and am sure you'll keep repeating it even if you don't hanker for chocolate. This is my 400th post, and I really wanna thank you friends and readers for the much needed support and decent reputation that you've given "You Too Can Cook" until now, your love encouragement has lead me to post these many recipes. This year has been going real good for my blog, You Too Can Cook, we recently celebrated it's 2nd birthday, reached 2500 fans on facebook, and now am posting my 400th recipe, which means a lot to me. This chocolate treat is specially for you, for the ones who have really been a pillar of support to me and my blog, hoping to see the same love always. Thank you once again :)

INGREDIENTS

Serves one person
Total Preparation Time -  5 to 6 minutes
  1. Milk - 300 ml (plus 50 ml)
  2. Cocoa powder - 2 teaspoons (unsweetened)
  3. Milk powder - 2 teaspoons
  4. Corn flour - 2 teaspoons
  5. Sugar - 6 teaspoons
  6. Vanilla essence - 3/4 teaspoon (if using a good strong vanilla extract use just 1/2 teaspoon)
  7. Cinnamon powder - A pinch (Optional)

PREPARATION METHOD

  • Pour milk into a saucepan and place on flame. Wait until it boils well. Meanwhile mix corn flour with 50 ml of milk (preferably) or water and set aside. See that there are no lumps.
  • Then switch flame to lower mode and add cocoa powder and milk powder to boiling milk and stir well. (Milk may rise up so keep stirring frequently)
  • Now add sugar and keep stirring well.
  • When milk reduces to 3/4th of its original volume, add vanilla essence and cinnamon powder.
  • Then pour the prepared corn flour paste while stirring simultaneously.
  • After 30 seconds you will get a smooth textured chocolate milk, now remove from flame. (If you find any lumps just strain them using a sieve or strainer)
  • Serve hot or warm as hot chocolate or cold as chocolate milk.

TIP 1: You can add some chocolate to make it richer but if using chocolate reduce sugar.

TIP 3: For a vegan option you can skip milk powder and milk and use soy milk or almond milk.

TIP 3: You may top it with marshmallows or cream and enrichen it as you desire.
