Most of the times the so called diet or low calorie recipes are low in calories but do not meet the body's requirements. You definitely need good nutrition to survive healthy!! it does not mean that you should completely cut down fat intake or all calories you'll need, when on a diet restriction. A proper diet should have a balance of everything. Cutting down extra calories is the best way to stay fit and well but at the same time we must eat to take in the necessary calories that we'll need to do the daily chores. Today's recipe will be one such dish that will provide you with all nutrition necessary, will make you feel full and is low in calories and fat too. Most of the diet friendly recipes remain bland and uninteresting and they scare away most of the people who wish to turn healthy. But here's a super flavorful, heartwarming 5 ingredient soup recipe that helps you feel full and aids weight loss too. Chicken, garlic, shallots and pepper make the soup so tasty and flavorful that you do not need any extra spices to make it palatable. Oats provide you fiber while chicken gives you enough and good proteins and did you know that shallots and garlic has numerous health benefits to offer you? Shallots are soooo good for you, and the best part is they are rich in fiber that will help you feel full and is low in fat. I guess everyone would know how wonderfully benefiting garlic is! With all such good and benefiting ingredients used, you'll know how rewarding it will be. This is such a nutritional and tasty soup that will make you feel happy in many ways. Use skinned chicken meat preferably the breast portion as it has much less fat and calories than the rest. This one is not the porridge kind and so it will be easier for you to savour. I made it peppery hot to soothe and satisfy my need hence the color, you can make it milder as you wish. If you are one who loves healthy and palatable dishes then this one's for you. 



INGREDIENTS

Makes Soup for one person
Total Preparation Time - 8 to 10 minutes
  1. Chopped chicken pieces - 2 tablespoon (skinned and boneless, preferably from the breast)
  2. Oats - 2 to 3 teaspoons 
  3. Shallots - 3 to 4 
  4. Garlic pods - 3 to 4 
  5. Salt - As required 
  6. Pepper powder - 1/4 teaspoon 

PREPARATION METHOD

  • Chop chicken into smaller bite size cubes and wash well. Peel and chop shallots and garlic into cubes. 
  • Add chopped chicken pieces, shallots, garlic pieces, salt and pepper powder into a bowl or saucepan and pour about 300 ml of water and stir well. 
  • Place over flame and cook for 5 minutes on a low flame.
  • When the chicken pieces gets cooked, add oats and stir well. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes on a medium flame and remove from flame. 
  • Serve hot!! 

TIP 1: This soup will be very flavorful and you do not need any extra spices. But you can add some more spices, make it spicier and customize as you wish.

TIP 2: Do not add too much oats as it will become a porridge. Just 2 to 3 teaspoons will do.  But if you'd like a thicker soup then add a few more teaspoons of oats.
