Bread Baji | Bread Bajji Recipe | Easy Bread Pakora | Snack Recipes Using Bread | How To Make Bread Baji

Yay and so India wins again and this time its against the South Africans. The Indian Vs South Africa cricket match is what I'm talking about. Men in Blue rock don't they? Okay so it's the cricket season #ICCCricketWorldCup is on and its time to make some finger food to munch on as we watch the nail-biting games. How many of you love cricket? I became a big fan of it and I don't remmeber from when I got so much kinda addicted to the game, I guess it would have been from my school days, I got completely inspired looking at my dad's love towards cricket. Me and dad would sit in front of the screen and would cheer up for the Indian team so enthusiastically. I still remember the way we used to sit restlessly, I also remember the loud yays, fierce high fives, nail biting moments and all those frustrations we would show at then end when India loses the match, we would put on a long face and make a big show and do so much that mom would get annoyed with the way we used to react. Her question would be do these people send you their trophies? why do you get so excited and frustrated about all this, and after just completing this sentence she would come back and ask now finally who won or is there another chance that India will make it to the finals :P So it is in everyone's mind and heart, we need our team to win! They represent India and if the team wins it's the whole nation that wins right? So it's much more than a mere game.

I am a BIG fan of Dhoni's games, his captainship and his cool ways of handling things and if Dhoni is not in, I'd almost hate to watch the game. Because his presence makes a game so different, so magical that you can expect a lot from unexpected moments. Now the world cup fever has caught me and I am very much expecting the Indian team to win every single match (okay now that's greed). And few days ago there was this India Vs Pakistan match which the whole world was looking forward to. It was such an awesome match and I was jumping with joy as India won the match gloriously without much hassle. :) It was a treat to my vision. And what about today's India Vs South Africa Match? Wowwww!! Hats off to the Indian team. What a brilliant game it was :) We are definitely back with a bang :D

But actually I was missing so much action as I was busy preparing the finger food, lunch, and snacks to munch on while watching the game. I missed many many interesting catches, shots and howzatts. They were all happening only when I got up and left to the kitcehn grrrr! Only then it struck my mind to browse and see if there were any special offers for ordering food online specially this world cup season. And indeed I found something interesting. I have long ago discussed about an online website the Foodpanda where you can order food online without much hassle. You just sit back log on to their website, check out the restaurants near by, the food they have, the price of the food, discounts offered and then finally just place the order and get them delivered at your doorstep. They are now offering a discount specially this world cup season. I am super excited and wanted to share it with you people too, so that you can make use of it. Click here to find more details about it and avail the offers and enjoy. Now who wouldn't love games and delicious food that comes along with discounts? They also have mobile apps so make sure to download them too, as it would be even more convenient. I'm definitely going to make an order next time so that I can just sit back and enjoy the match without missing any action.

And now here's the bread baji I made to enjoy while I was watching the India Vs Pakistan match and I thoroughly relished it with tea. Its very easy and can be made in a very few minutes.

INGREDIENTS

Makes 8 small bajis
Total Preparation Time - 10 minutes
  1. Bread slices - 2
  2. Maida / Gram flour - 5 tablespoons
  3. Rice flour - 2 tablespoons
  4. Red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  5. Asafoetida / Perungayathool - 1/8 teaspoon
  6. Salt - As per taste (1/4 teaspoon or as you need)
  7. Chat masala - Few pinches
  8. Oil - To deep fry / shallow fry bajis (use sunflower oil or any odorless oil)
Bread pakora 076

PREPARATION METHOD

  • Mix maida (or gram flour), rice flour, red chilli powder, asafoetida, salt and pour some water and stir well. It should be a thick batter.
  • Now cut bread slices into four small squares and set aside.
  • Place a frying pan on flame and pour enough oil to deep fry (or shallow fry) the bajis. After it gets hot dip the bread slices in batter just to coat them , do not let the pieces soak in the batter.
  • Then immediately slide them into the hot oil and deep fry on a medium flame until it turns crisp. (flip in between and make sure the bajis do not turn brown but has a nice even color)
  • Using a slotted spoon remove from flame and drain excess oil using tissue paper. Then sprinkle some chaat masala and serve along with some hot tea/coffee.

TIP 1: Maida and gram flour both works well. Gram flour has a unique flavor that will work well but it depends on the availability of the flour you have at hand.

TIP 2: You can also make a potato filling sandwich it in between two bread pieces, then dip them in batter and deep fry them. This is how the traditional bread pakora is prepared.

TIP 3: Do not make the batter too thin. It will get absorbed by the bread and when fried it will absorb too much oil. Also do not soak the bread in batter for long, just dip, coat and immediately fry them.

I wish and pray the men in blue, our Indian team a big success. Ours is the trophy ;)
