Elaichi Milk | Cardamom Milk | Simple Elaichi Doodh | Elakkai Paal

Elaichi milk is a very aromatic and pleasant drink that's very easy to prepare and it tastes excellent too. Cardamom pods, being the queen of spices, helps to soothe the heart burn helps get rid of indigestion problems, acidity, depression, and bad breath too!! This milk drink is very easy to prepare. Every night when you get stressed just get this drink ready to gulp in and have a pleasant sleep. It can be prepared in just few minutes and so is such a fuss free drink. Just a glass full of milk and some cardamom pods will make the perfect flavored drink. Those who are on diet control or diabetic can avoid sugar and use sugar replacements like sugar-free to sweeten the drink. Try this instead of the regular coffee/tea for your chai time. Some like adding saffron too, but I prefer the simplicity here, saffron milk is definitely a different recipe and has a different flavor. You can serve this elaichi milk either hot or cold. Lets see how to prepare this simple drink!!

INGREDIENTS

Serves 1 person
Total Preparation Time - 5 minutes
  1. Milk - 250 ml (I used full cream milk you can use low fat milk too)
  2. Elaichi/ Elakkai /Cardamom pods - 3
  3. Sugar - 2 spoons (or) Sugar Free - 2 pellets

PREPARATION METHOD

  • Open the cardamom pods as shown in the pic and set aside.
  • In a sauce pan add milk, sugar and cardamom pods and stir well.
  • Place on flame and stir well, leave on flame until the cardamom fragrance comes out.
  • Remove from flame.
  • Pick out / Strain the cardamom pods from the milk and serve.

TIP 1: You can also add a pinch of cardamom powder instead of cardamom pods.

TIP 2: Add a spoon of any milk powder to enhance taste. I used full cream milk here, you can use fat-less milk too in-case you are on diet control, but full cream milk makes the best cardamom milk.

TIP 3: You can also chop Almonds or Cashews and garnish the milk while serving.

Delicious Elaichi milk is now ready!! Simple yet yummy!! Enjoy hot or cold!!
