Lemon Spice Tea - Hot & Chilled Versions

Lemon tea is such a refreshing drink and am sure everyone would have tried and tasted the plain version. The spiced version is healthier and even more refreshing with best flavors and pleasing aroma. Instead of getting the packed ones try this home-made spice tea and relish good health. Tea is better than coffee in terms of the caffeine content, coffee contains more caffeine. Each spice has a very benefiting feature, like cinnamon helps to get reduce cholesterol and controls sugar by increasing the production of insulin, it is the natural preservative and has anti-microbial properties, also can help get rid of migraines and head-aches. Dry ginger has too many health properties which cannot be listed briefly, but the best known fat is it can help cure digestive problems like bloating and indigestion, also reduces cholesterol level.  So adding these spices in tea or coffee makes it way more healthier. Similarly other spices has its own health benefits, just Google it and you will get more details. Now lets move on to the refreshing lemon spice tea recipe.

INGREDIENT

(Serves one glass)
  1. Lemon slices - 2
  2. Tea powder - 3/4 spoon (or 1/2 spoon for a milder decoction)
  3. Sugar / Honey - As per taste
  4. Cinnamon - 1/2 inch small stick
  5. Cardamom pods - 2
  6. Cloves - 1
  7. Dry ginger (chukku) - 1/2 inch small piece
  8. Water - 250 ml

PREPARATION METHOD

  • Crush the spices using a pestle and mortar and set aside.
  • Heat a sauce pan pour water into it then add the crushed spices and boil well for about 2 minutes.
  • Then add the tea powder and boil on low flame for 30 seconds and remove from flame.
  • Strain the tea using a strainer, add  lemon slices and serve.
  • Serve hot or chilled.
  • If you are going to serve it chilled add more honey and a spoon of lemon juice to the tea. Then fill the glass with ice-cubes first and then pour in the tea and serve immediately.

TIP 1: Crush the spices that I have mentioned here and add them to your tea powder or  tea leaves and use them for making any kind of tea. The flavor will be great and will help boost your immune system.

TIP 2: Never boil tea too much. Just a minute of boiling will do.

TIP 3: For the iced tea version, prepare the glass just before you serve because the ice-cubes will melt and make the tea diluted.
