Strawberries are a delight and a perfect fruit for flavoring any recipe, be it desserts or any smoothies they top the favorite list. I love smoothies as replacements for breakfast and so try playing with fruits, and on one certain day, by chance or luck I had some leftover strawberries and pomegranate and decided to blend it together, and when I did, I got this beautiful pink smoothie which just made me more enthusiastic as it is my most favorite color. Strawberries does give a pink color when used alone but the natural sweetness I got from the pomegranates is what I was more happy about. Looked so pleasing and tasted so good and now it is one of my favorite smoothie. I did not use sugar as my pomegranate was sweet enough. I always make sure to get pomegranates that has white kernels, (am not sure about the actual name) it is too sweet and so extra sweeteners are not needed. According to me sugar suppresses the nutritional benefits that a fruit can render, so I try to avoid it to the maxim. Try this and please your eyes and tummy. Here is a pink smoothie for all pink lovers.
Total Preparation Time - 5 minutes
- Strawberries - 5 to 6 (small ones)
- Pomegranate kernels - From 1 fruit
- Boiled milk - 1 cup (Use chilled milk optionally)
- Sugar - As per taste (optional)
- Remove the green stalk from strawberries wash well and chop strawberries into smaller pieces.
- Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend well then strain using a strainer.
TIP 1: You can adjust the amount of milk added according to the consistency you want.
TIP 2: Do not use warm milk or hot milk, use chilled milk or milk at room temperature as the strawberry will curdle the milk if hot.
TIP 3: I have not added sugar here as my smoothie was sweet enough, but you can add according to your preference.
